West LRT Construction: Suggestions For Your Commute
Mar 10th, 2010With transportation projects, come severe traffic delays. Here are some suggestions on how to minimize the impact during your commute:
- Try alternate routes;
- Take the bus, car pool, ride your bike or walk;
- Adjust your travel time.
For up-to-date information on construction and traffic, please visit the interactive Construction and Traffic Map at westlrt.ca. The website will also feature CCTV cameras showing traffic flows on 17 Avenue and 69 Street S.W., Sarcee Trail and 37 Street S.W. as well as along Bow Trail and Sarcee Trail, 33 Street S.W. and Crowchild Trail. Variable Message Boards along the main corridors will provide information on lane reductions, road closures and detours.
The construction of the West LRT line will span three years. It is scheduled to begin revenue service in December 2012 and will provide service to more than 90,000 Calgarians.
Please visit westlrt.ca for more information on the project or register for the e-newsletter.
If you have any questions or concerns, please call 3-1-1.
I can see a CCTV camera on southbound Crowchild at the exit to Bow Trail, but there are no cameras on the westlrt.ca website as mentioned above.
