Yoga
The classical techniques of yoga date back more than 5000 years. The practice of yoga works to bring the body and mind together into one harmonious experience.
We are lucky to have two instructors teaching new yoga programs at the SCA Community Centre this fall. Registration is on an ongoing basis: see the instructor at the beginning of class.

After School Yoga Ages 8-12, Tuesdays 4-5pm Unlike many afterschool activities, this yoga class exercises both mind and body in a non-competitive environment. In this class, kids are encouraged to let their true self shine as we will explore the energetic, fun aspects of yoga. Alive with flowing sequences, balancing poses, breathing exercises, and creative relaxation techniques, this class will promote balance, flexibility, concentration, coordination and strength. As well, partner poses and cooperative yoga games inspire positive peer interactions that they are sure to carry into their everyday lives. Please arrive early on Sept 16 to register.
(Note: To avoid grumbling tummies, students coming to yoga directly from school should remember to pack an extra snack!)
Yoga for Youth Ages 13-17, Tuesdays 5-6pm In this class, teens will escape from their problems at school, at home, or with friends, into a space of no judgments, no expectations, and no stress. Stephanie will encourage students to let go of outward appearances, and move inward to build mind, body and emotional awareness. Teens will develop body and mind strength and flexibility through yoga poses, breathing exercises, and relaxation. The posture series will be active and paired with a wide variety of music. This class will help build self-esteem, body appreciation and tools for stress management.G
