Leadership Certification for Grades 7 – 12

LEAD – Leadership, Empowerment, Achieving a Difference.

Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:15 to 5:45 pm, Sept 26 to December 21.

The City of Calgary values youth and the contribution they make to their city. To help develop skills for these future leaders, we are excited to offer a unique leadership opportunity to your students/youth called LEAD, a youth Leadership Certification Program for grades 7-12.

This program is interactive and teaches leadership skills to youth in the community. Youth acquire lifelong leadership skills by:
– identifying and demonstrating an increase in self-esteem, self-confidence and self-worth.
– becoming more involved in the community.
– being exposed to and involved in new opportunities and activities.
– engaging youth in meaningful opportunities to practice learned leadership skills.
– connecting with other people and developing meaningful relationships.
– completing the required courses for a certificate leads to credibility, recognition and opportunity for youth at school, work and in the community.

This program consists of two components; learning modules and a required practicum (20 hours).
The program will be facilitated by The City of Calgary staff and supported by the school. Youth will complete the following modules through the use of interactive games and experiential learning:

Conflict Management
Leisure Education
Personal Wellness
Planning and Organizing
Problem Solving and Decision Making
