Pedestrians and cyclists will be moving easier thanks to several new pathway connections completed this past December as part of the Bow Trail widening and intersection improvements project.
As part of this work, pathway extensions have been added on both the north and south side of Bow Trail from 85 St. to Old Banff Coach Rd. and Strathcona Blvd. Additionally, an at-grade pedestrian crossing with signals has opened on 77 St. east of 85 St. S.W.
These enhancements will help to improve safety and provide better walking and cycling connections between communities & existing pathways along this busy roadway.
Along with these pathway improvements, other major work including widening Bow Trail to two lanes in each direction, between 85 St. S.W. and Old Banff Coach Rd., and the addition of street lighting, traffic signals, safety cable barrier and a storm water system has also been completed. Crews will be back to complete the remaining intersection work and landscaping along 85 St. and the west leg in spring 2020.
