Guardians of the Gate

We hope you enjoyed the beautiful flowers at the entrance to Strathcona this summer! Thanks to the generous rainfall, the plants thrived and created a warm, welcoming entrance to our community.

A heartfelt thank you to all the wonderful volunteers who helped weed, water, plant, tidy up, and even chat with the plants — your efforts made a real difference. Special thanks go out to the enthusiastic Girl Guide troupe who joined us this year to help with weeding, cleaning, and learning about community volunteering and garden care.

We want to thank Marlene for keeping us going over so many years. This summer Marlene moved and it took three of us to replace her! We miss you and we hope you will drive by from time to time to enjoy the flowers.

We’re also grateful to those who stopped by with kind words and encouragement — your appreciation keeps us going!

As the gardening season wraps up, we’re taking a well-deserved break. Interested in joining us next year? We’ll start up again in the spring with planning, cleanup, and planting. Drop us a note if you'd like to be part of it — we’d love to keep you in the loop!
