      SUMMER CAMPS 2026 at SCA Community Centre

 Painting with Watercolours 

Watercolour is a beautiful, creative medium. Learn to paint like a master while exploring your own creativity and style. Watercolour techniques and ‘tricks of the trade’ will be shared and practiced before you dive into a variety of projects. including landscape painting, painting from photos, still life, animals, and portraits. There will be opportunities to paint outdoors; painting nature as you see it!

 Dates:            July 13 – 17, 2026

Time:  Full day.  9:00 to 4:00

 Theatre Performance - Summer with Shakespeare 

Through drama games, fencing, and improv, learn about the greatest storyteller and playwright of all time! We will work with a script to rehearse scenes or a short play based on Shakespeare’s work, that will be presented the final afternoon of camp.

Dates:            August 4 – 7, 2026

Time:  Full Day. 9:00 to 4:00

Ages: 9 – 15

Dragonfly Arts

Dragonfly Arts is committed to providing children and young adults an opportunity to explore their creativity, use their imagination, and develop skills in the visual arts, theatre, and creative writing.

 Anne Hodgson, Director and Instructor

 Anne is a Calgary artist, actor, writer and teacher. Anne was a teacher with the Calgary Board of Education for 39 years and believes strongly in igniting creativity and an enthusiasm for the arts in children and young adults. Through the arts, children develop confidence and skill that filter into all areas of their life. She has been involved in community and professional theatre for 50 years and is an accomplished watercolour artist. Since retirement from the CBE, Anne has returned to schools as an Artist in Residence, taught through the Alexandra Writer Centre Society, and developed her own company, Dragonfly Arts. Anne is known for engaging young people through richly interesting and fun activities in a positive atmosphere that allows children to explore creativity.
