Recycle Day – Sunday, September 8, 9 am to 1 pm

Drop off is free for SCA CA members.  For non-members, a fee will apply for paper shedding.  Items will be limited to one vehicle-load per family.

Recycle Day – VOLUNTEER SIGN-UP

This year, the following recyclers will be at our event:

  • Electronics Recycling by Techno Trash: All computers and computer accessories, TV’s, copiers, faxes, radios, alarm clocks, coffee machines, microwave ovens, cell phones, blow dryers, speakers, cables, phones, DVD players, record players, cash registers and other small electronics. Sorry, we cannot accept large appliances (no ovens, no fridges, no washers and no clothes dryers).
  • Paper Shredding: Your secure papers will be shredded onsite in the shredding truck.  FREE for SCA CA Members; $20 fee for non-members.
  • Waste & Compost Trucks from City of Calgary *Limit one vehicle load per family*
    • Two trucks, one compost and one garbage, will be present to take all waste.  Please separate all waste into non-organic (eg. Plastic, construction material, etc) and organic material that can be composted (garden waste, organic waste, etc.).
    • *Old mattresses must be covered in plastic.  There will be mattress bags available for you to use at the SCA CA.  Please note that for hygienic reasons, volunteers and City Staff will not assist with off-loading mattresses that are not already covered.  Please remember no hazardous materials.
  • The Cerebral Palsy Association (CPA) will gratefully accept: clothes (men’s, women’s, children’s), accessories (ties, hats, belts, etc), footwear, bedding, draperies, towels, sleeping bags, sporting goods, toys, games, kitchen items (utensils, dishware, glassware, pots & pans, etc), luggage, books, CD’s, DVD’s, records, jewelry, stationary supplies, small electronics.  Sorry, no furniture or mattresses.
  • Scrap Metal Disposal
  • Bottle Drive in support of Wildcats Football

What WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED by any of our Recyclers:

NO fridges, freezers, propane tanks, household chemicals, alkaline batteries, windows or any other glass.

To dispose of hazardous chemicals, please take them to Fire Station 20, 2800 Peace Keepers Way SW (beside Mount Royal University).  Drop-off hours are daily Monday-Sunday, 8am-8pm.

All other items must be disposed of at the City of Calgary Landfill, Spyhill Landfill, 11808 – 69th St NW.  Summer hours are daily 7:30am – 5pm.
