Strathcona, Christie, Aspen Community Association (SCA CA)

Just 15 minutes from downtown Calgary, with ample parking, the SCA CA is a modern , air conditioned venue with fabulous views of the downtown. With a variety of spaces available, we are able to accommodate anything from intimate weddings to larger celebrations with up to 200 seated guests.

Wedding rentals include use of the full building to guarantee exclusivity for your special event. If available, the building may be rented from 4 pm on Friday until Sunday at 2 am.

Our building has a full commercial kitchen with serving bar and tables & chairs for up to 240 people.

Main Hall (main floor)

Our Main Hall features a raised stage, hardwood floors and cathedral ceilings.

Capacity: 200 seated, or 180 with space for dance floor (2,700 sq ft plus 360 sq ft stage area)

Loft (upstairs)

Our loft is an ideal space for your wedding ceremony.

With cathedral ceilings and windows overlooking the city, this carpeted space includes sliding glass doors that connect to a balcony overlooking the Main Hall.

Please note: Food & beverage service is not allowed in the loft (due to carpet). There is no elevator in our building therefore attendees must be able to navigate the stairs.

Capacity: 140 people theatre style

Founder’s Room (main floor)

With easy access to the kitchen, the Founder’s Room is the perfect space if you’re hosting a more intimate reception. For larger gatherings, it is the perfect space to set up your buffet.

Features include an oak fireplace as well as a balcony and east facing windows that provide spectacular city views.

Capacity: 30 for seated dining, up to 50 for mix & mingle

Rental Rates & Payment Terms

Your rental will allow you exclusive building access from 8 am Saturday morning until 2 am Sunday morning.

The fee for this is $2,362.50 + GST +$25 Recycling Fee for a total of $2,505.63.

There is also the option of booking the building beginning Friday at 4 pm (subject to availability).

The fee for this is an additional $262.50 + GST for a total of $275.62.

In summary, you may rent from Friday at 4 pm until Sunday at 2 am for $2,781.25

We have no corkage fees or any other extra charges.

A $600 non-refundable deposit will hold your reservation, and this amount is deducted from your final payment. A non-refundable installment of $1000 is due 6 months before your event date, and the final balance is due 3 months before your event. We also require a copy of your photo ID on file, which we can take when we meet to make your booking.

Separate from any rental fees, the day before your event, we take a $500 hold on a credit card as your damage deposit, which is charged only if there is damage or extra cleaning charges from your event; otherwise, we release the credit card hold the Tuesday after the wedding.

Set-Up & Take-Down

You (or the event planner you hire) are responsible for event setup and for cleaning/removing all decor before you depart on Sunday at 2 am. Our caretaker will put away tables and chairs.

You are responsible for all catering arrangements (food, linens, dishware, cutlery, decorations, etc) and are free to hire any catering company or bartenders you wish. If liquor will be served (must be store-bought, not homemade) you are responsible for obtaining your liquor license and must provide a copy to the SCA CA office the week of your wedding.

We do not have any audio equipment for rent.

No open flames or helium balloons are permitted for decorations, and no rice, confetti, bird seed or flower petals are to be thrown or scattered.
