Painting with Watercolours
Watercolour is a beautiful, creative medium. Learn to paint like a master while exploring your own creativity and style. Watercolour techniques and ‘tricks of the trade’ will be shared and practiced before you dive into a variety of projects. including landscape painting, painting from photos, still life, animals, and portraits. There will be opportunities to paint outdoors; painting nature as you see it!

Theatre Performance – A Greek Festival
Travel back in time to Ancient Greece and become part of the famous Greek Drama Festival. We will rehearse comedic, humorous, and fun filled versions of famous Greek Myths, while working towards a presentation of a ‘festival’ on the final afternoon of camp. Scripts for the plays will be provided. Theatre skills will be practiced through drama games, mask work, and learning about the Greek festival.

The Mysteries of the Group of Seven: Art and Creative Writing
Do you enjoy art? Painting? Mysteries? Writing? You will examine the art of eight of Canada’s artists, famous for painting Canadian landscape using vivid images…The Group of Seven and Tom Thomson. You will learn and develop techniques as you create your own paintings in their style. Then…as detectives, you will examine true facts related to the mysterious death of Tom Thomson, as yet a mystery unsolved! You will then have the opportunity to write your own mystery story explaining what happened to him.

BIO
Anne Hodgson is a Calgary artist, actor, writer and teacher. Anne was a teacher with the Calgary Board of Education for 39 years and believes strongly in igniting creativity and an enthusiasm for the arts in children and young adults. Through the arts, children develop confidence and skill that filter into all areas of their life. She has been involved in community and professional theatre for 50 years, and is an accomplished watercolour artist. Since retirement from the CBE, Anne has returned to schools as an Artist in Residence, taught through the Alexandra Writer Centre Society, and developed her own company, Dragonfly Arts. Anne is known for engaging young people through richly interesting and fun activities in a positive atmosphere that allows children to explore creativity.
