Update from City of Calgary
As I am sure you are aware, a critical water main break has impacted water availability across the city.

Here is a summary on where things stand:
- A boil water advisory is in place for the community of Bowness. Water is safe to drink in all other communities.
- Mandatory outdoor water restrictions are in place.
- A fire ban is in effect for The City of Calgary.
- 16th Ave N is closed at Home Road.
All outdoor water use is temporarily banned under Stage 4 Water Restrictions. This includes:
- Water lawns, gardens, trees, and shrubs by any method.
- Wash down any outdoor surfaces, including exterior building surfaces, windows, sidewalks, driveways, or walkways of any sort unless your business requires to for health and safety reasons.
- Fill outdoor decorative features, fountains, pools, or hot tubs.
- Use water for construction purposes such as grading, compaction, or dust control.
There are voluntary indoor water restrictions in place:
- Delay using dishwashers and washing machines
- Limiting shower times and keeping baths shallow
- Turning off humidifiers and ice machines
- Turn off water taps when not in use
There are also service interruptions in place, including the closure of all city-operated aquatic and fitness facilities and arenas. There are disruptions to athletic parks and the Calgary Soccer Centre, both operational but shower facilities closed.
Street sweeping has also been interrupted in a few communities, including Aspen Woods and Springbank Hill.
The City will be providing an update on the critical water main break affecting City wide water usage at a media availability today at 3:00 p.m. This availability will be livestreamed on calgary.ca/live.
